THIS JOURNEY TAKES US TO THE HIDDEN SIDE OF LAPLAND, PLACES THAT LOCALS KNOW BUT TOURISTS HARDLY EVER VISIT.

Very good deep snow driving conditions through the wintry forests and over frozen lakes.
The overnights will be spent in the local guest house and wilderness cabins. Daily distances are 100-120 km, new deep snow sport and crossover models 600 – 900cc are used (1 person/snowmobile). All meals included!

TRAVEL PROGRAM

Day 1 (~100 km)

  • Morning pick-up from your hotel /airport / train station in Rovaniemi.
  • Meeting and greeting with the group.
  • Preparations: we provide you with thermal outfits (trousers, jacket, woolen socks, boots, scarf, commando hat and gloves), driving equipment and a waterproof bag for your personal supplies needed during the tour.
  • Bus transfer to Savukoski village in Eastern Lapland, 3 hours.
  • Home-cooked lunch in the local guesthouse.
  • Preparing for the start: safety brief and driving instructions, departure to the wilderness.
  • Driving through the versatile landscapes to remote Tulppio village near the Russian border.
  • Accommodation in the cabins.
  • Relaxing evening in sauna and stories about the area.
  • Typical Lappish dinner.

 

 

 

Day 2 (~65-100 km)

  • A full day snowmobile safari to the Kemihaara Wilderness Center near Korvatunturi, which is known as the place where Santa Claus was born. It is a full day of deep snow driving in the wilderness, the final route will be decided depending on the snow and weather conditions.
  • Lunch on the way.
  • Visit to the restricted border area.
  • Arrival to Kemihaara, accommodation in the Wilderness Center – a secret hideaway place far away from civilization.
  • Relaxing evening in sauna.
  • Typical Lappish dinner.

Day 3 (~120 km)

  • Snowmobile driving through the forests back to Savukoski village.
  • Lunch on the way.
  • Late afternoon transfer to back to Rovaniemi (3 hours), end of the safari.
  • You will be rewarded with the Great Adventure Certificates.
  • Transfer to your hotel / airport / train station.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Group size: maximum 8 people plus guide.
  • The safari is suitable for everyone with normal physical conditions and an adventurous mind.
  • You will get high quality thermal outdoor outfits and boots for the snowmobile safari. We will ask for your sizes before hand and the outfits will be waiting you on the spot. There is no personal outdoor equipment required, but functional long sport underwear and warm layer beneath your jacket is recommended for your own comfort.
  • Accommodation in cabins is offering shared facilities (bunk beds). Bathroom and water closet are located in a separate building. Wilderness Center is offering bedrooms for 2-3 people and bathroom/toilet facilities indoors in every apartment.
  • For private groups we recommend arrival to Rovaniemi and transfer to Savukoski already on the evening before, in order to start the safari earlier, Wild Nordic will organize your additional overnight in Savukoski.
  • Deductibles in case of snowmobile damage 900 €.
